  Case: Needs a Father Figure
I have a student whom is trying to impress me. One day, he feels bad behavior will impress me. The next day, he explains his favorite things. He disrupts lessons in order to go into detail about himself. How do I give him attention without taking away fro the lesson?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I had a student who would do similar things while I was in my first internship. I gave him a sticky note pad and had him write down all of his thoughts while I was teaching, or when the teacher was teaching, and stick them on his desk. This allowed him to get his thoughts out without being disruptive. We would come around and read his sticky notes during group or independent work time and respond on the sticky, a check mark if it did not need to be discussed further, a smile face if we wanted to talk about it during transition or dismissal, or an exclamation point and we would discuss it right then and there. It took some time, but in the long run, it ended up benefiting both his classmates and him when it came to focus and productivity.
