  Case: Grading
Mr. Smith is the world geography teacher who is faced with grading the project related to the benchmark: Monitor the effects of pollution on a specific stream. Some students have turned in written reports, some have prepared oral presentations, some have drawn graphs or charts, and others have a PowerPoint slide show prepared. Just deciding how to grade such diverse products can be overwhelming.
What should Mr. Smith do to grade his students' work evenly?

Mr. Smith should come up with a rubric of what specifics he is look for in this project. This criteria will allow him to grade each student's project, although different but on the same topic, fairly and consistently.

Comments: He should have just set out guidelines or a rubric to begin with before handing out the assignment. This way he would not have to make these different rubrics causing more problems for the teacher and can be confusing on the grading process.

Comments: a basic rubric for the items that need to be included would give the students guidance while allowing them to be creative with the project.

Comments: Rubrics are extremely important to help the teacher assess student equally. It also helps the students to know what is expected of them with an assignment.
