Case: Cell Phones During Standardized Tests
A student taking the Georgia Milestones Biology exam says that she does not have a cell phone when the teacher doing the proctoring comes around to collect the phones. However, later during the exam her cell phone begins to vibrate and an obnoxious "One Direction" ringtone sounds from the phone. What penalty should the student face?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
The proctor should report the incident to testing coordinator at the school and follow any instructions she is given. The proctor is not the one that should be forced to decide the penalty, but should instead simply comply with any investigation that may take place.

Comments: I agree that the proctor should be responsible for explaining the situation to the testing coordinator, not the penalty. Ultimately, the testing coordinator will decide if the test needs to be invalidated and/or disciplinary action should be taken.

Comments: This is true. The incident has to be reported to the school' testing coordinator. A written report is completed and the incident is then reported to the system's testing coordinator who then reports it to the appropriate person at the Department of Education. Protocol must be followed and the consequences are already pre-determined by the assessment department of DOE.
