Case: Cell Phones During Standardized Tests
A student taking the Georgia Milestones Biology exam says that she does not have a cell phone when the teacher doing the proctoring comes around to collect the phones. However, later during the exam her cell phone begins to vibrate and an obnoxious "One Direction" ringtone sounds from the phone. What penalty should the student face?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I'm sure there are protocols that must be followed with the removal of the phone and the tests. However, there should definitely be a penalty for the student's choice to not give up the cell phone when asked. A good start would be to contact the parents and inform them of the seriousness of the situation.

Comments: I agree that this should be handled according the protocol for this type of testing. In my experience the individual school would also have some type of policy for students being dishonest in denying having the cell phone. The teacher should follow protocol to report the cell phone incident to administration and file any necessary reports. Additionally, the teacher could allow the school and classroom policies guide the remaining punishment for the student for the dishonesty issue.
