Home | How It Works | Stats Login | Register         Case: Differentiation for LLL in a Performance Class In band, students are expected to play alone and with others on a daily basis (MSHMB.1) Students who are deemed LLL should have differentiated assessments to ensure mastery of content. However, Cameron complains that the assessment is easier for the Bella (LLL) and is not fair that his was more rigorous. When you attempt to have the student play not in front of others, you remove achievement of the standard, and another Hunter now complains that the lack of pressure is now unfair. How do you handle this assessment/classroom management case? Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) At the beginning of class, I explain that everyone is treated fairly. However, that does not mean that they are treated equally. My job is to help my students become successful. I will give my students the accommodations that they need to help them reach this goal. I also give examples to my class of how students may be treated differently and why (not using real examples.) This helps them to understand the situation better. I also work to lessen accommodations to gradually move students in the right direction.
