Case: Student with recently divorced parents
How can I help one of my 4th grade students whose performance seems to be affected by his parents' recent divorce?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
Divorce is a tough situation for students. Of course, it is important to conference with parents to discuss how the divorce is affecting the student's behavior and academic progress. I would get the consoler involved to get the student to open up and possibly refer the family for group support. Finally, I would suggest a personal journal to write down their thoughts or feeling as a release of emotions.

Comments: I really like how you suggested a personal journal for the student to write down their thoughts or feelings as a release of emotions. I think it would be a great way for the students to process things and feel they have a place to write their thoughts and feelings down.
