  Case: disruptive student
A student in a 2nd grade classroom continues to climb up under the table and bark like a dog. This student refuses to come out from under the table and is very disruptive to the other students in the classroom. When the event is taking place the teacher stops teaching to deal with this one student. What should this teacher do?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I hope that parent contact has been made before involving administration. A behavior contract might be beneficial to use with the student which involves the parent as well. I agree that instruction should not be disrupted for the other students in the classroom, and that the child may need to be removed. I just hope that all other avenues have been taken ahead of time.

Comments: I too think all steps of action should be taken place first because calling administration every day and removing this child isn't going to work or drive home the point to the child why this behavior is not okay. This goes deeper than misbehavior there is obvious attention seeking issues going on here which typically starts at home which should be contacted first.

Comments: I agree that the parents should be contacted first. Sometimes, that is all it takes for a child to turn their behavior around. I like the suggestion to create a behavior contract as well. I have seen at schools where a school psychologist comes into the classroom to help remedy the situation and remove the child, if needed.

Comments: I agree but sometimes depending on circumstances and how disruptive the student is being, the teacher may have to call for administration before contacting the parent
