  Case: Daily Warm up
Mrs. Kelly is having a difficult time getting her 7th grade math students to complete their daily warm ups. During warm up time, Mrs. Kelly is taking attendance and checking for homework completion so she cannot monitor the students while they are completing the warm up. At the end of the week, she collects the warm up sheet for a grade; however, she notices that the students are just simply writing the answer down and not showing their work. How can she make sure the students are actually completing the warm up and not just writing the answer down when she goes over it?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
Perhaps when Mrs. Kelly is grading these, only answers with work shown should receive full points. This should encourage students to doing this warm-up on their own, instead of just copying down the answer when it is gone over.

Comments: I agree with this solution, if students know that their work will not be counted if they do not show their work, they will most likely begin showing their work.

Comments: This is what I do in my class. Students are well-aware and are repeatedly told, "no work, no credit." Besides, what will just a number tell them when they are studying for a test weeks after the problems are completed?

Comments: I agree showing work is a key component and the student should receive deductions of they have not fulfilled the rubric for warm ups.

Comments: I agree with this solution. Only rewarding full points for answers that show their work will encourage students to take the activity more seriously. Students will be more inclined to put in the additional effort and show their work when they know their grade depends on it.
