Home | How It Works | Stats Login | Register         Case: SPED assessments A kindergarten teacher has a student who has extreme difficulty writing due to poor fine motor skills and expressing herself verbally. This student is being served through OT and speech. Most of the kindergarten assessment require a verbal response. How can this teacher assess this student in the most effective way? Discuss the assessments that require a verbal response with your OT person or the special education teacher for suggestions on Assistive technology choices. Google has a program called "Speak It" in which a passage can be highlighted and read to the student at different speeds. Also,most assessments which are going online will provide read-to services. Talking to the special education teacher for tips and advice would definitely help and trying to provide an alternative method makes the teacher and student happy. As with all SPED students the IEP can help make sure the student is receiving everything they need and give you an idea of what technology may be helpful to that particular student.
