Case: What I Want To Do With My Life
In your English class your students are assigned a project, which needs prior approval, of giving a speech on the topic of ‘What I Want To Do With My Life'. One student, who is Catholic, wants to become a priest. His speech tells about his church, their fundamental beliefs, and his reasons for entering the priesthood. You allow the speech. Were any code of ethics principles violated?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I do not think any of the code of ethics were violated however I would be very cautious with that when it is regarding to religion.

Comments: I agree that no violation exists, I believe that students are allowed to express religious views freely so long as they are respectful of others.

Comments: Religion is a touchy subject in schools but I don't see anything wrong with a student mentioning it if it has something to do with what they aspire to do with their life. It's technically no different than a student explaining about wanting to be a doctor when they grow up.

Comments: No code of ethics are violated. You are not giving the speech, and would extend the same right to another student of another religion who wanted to share.

Comments: I do not feel that the teacher needs to "be very careful". I would let the child express their aspirations.
