His mother has been called on several occasions, nothing has happened. This student is in Tier three for RTI. If you are required to RTI this student, what are some possible solutions to reach this student? Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) I would say the first step to solving this issue would be to determine whether the student can't do the work therefore refuses to do it or if the student just does not want to do the work. If the student can't do the work then academic RTI with interventions would be best for the student. However, this sounds more like a behavior issue where the student would need to be placed on behavior RTI. I had some behavioral issues where I would not do my work because I was too social. My teacher set up a behavior chart for me each week that had expectations listed on them such as listened well, sat appropriately, completed assignments etc. I would then receive a smiley face, a straight face, or a frown based on how well I did on those expectations listed for each day of the week. Then by the end of the month, if I had a certain amount of smiley faces I had earned a prize. This behavior chart really helped me.
