  Case: Resources
Ms. Bradley teaches in an urban, inner-city school, where there is a lack of resources. She is a 7th grade Science teacher and her students are struggling with the content. She has given them 11 vocabulary words for the unit and they are still struggling with knowing what they are and how to apply the concepts.
Last year she had Escience, which played a huge role in helping the students with their science vocabulary. The school decided not to buy it this year, so she is trying to find other resources to help, but is coming up short with resources. What resources should she use to help her vocabulary strategies and to better equip them for their vocabulary assessments?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
There are many apps available to help study for exams, such as Quizlet which was mentioned previously. However, if there is a lack of resources the school may not have enough computers for students to really utilize this to its potential. Additionally, many students do not have access to technology resources at home. To address the lack of resources, I would use the index card method previously mentioned, find or create some type of song or rhyme for the vocabulary and content(Flocabulary.com and HaveFunTeaching.com are great resources for this), or create a puzzle or memory game where students have to match the definition with the vocabulary word. All of these methods can be used with little expense and can be engaging for students to do independently or in small groups.

Comments: I agree that the students may not have the resources to use a computer or other digital technology so this solution would work best.

Comments: I agree with creating a song or a rhyme for the vocabulary words. Maybe even going over the words again as repetition proves to be a helpful process.

Comments: I agree, I like how so many different options are listed and that you keep on mind that some children, or even the school may not be able to afford computers for their students.

Comments: Index cards are tried and true, and can be used multiple times. Some students may also perform better from having the kinesthetic portion of learning from touching the card and "mentally" flipping the card. Whatever method the students like best.
