  Case: kindergarten grades
We are now required to give number grades in kindergarten. What are some age-appropriate ways to assess and give number grades to kindergarteners?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
Using rubrics will be a great way to assess students in kindergarten and give them number grades. You can also divide the number of standards met by the number of standards to get a numerical grade.

Comments: The only concern that I have in division of standards into the grading system is that each skill mastered is based on a differing state standard. As an example, CPALMS indicates there are 30 math standards for First Grade Math in addition to various access points. Although math is math, using a combination of all standards that are based on different skills would not provide a true assessment or grading scale of the child's abilities. Thank you for your post.
