Case: Writing for college and career
Mr. Kitchens, a high school English teacher, has a dilemma with his second period students showing little motivation in developing and improving their writing ideas and organization skills. This eleventh grade group has poor grammar and conventional skills. Additionally, in a technology driven world and weak skills, the insufficient engagement in the writing process results in half of the class failing the summative essay exams which on is required for high school graduation.
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
Mr. Kitchens' students might benefit from individual conferences with the teacher in which strengths and weaknesses in writing are assessed by both the teacher and students and setting goals for achievement.

The suggested solution is respectful of the individual (student) Yes
The suggested solution is relevant to the case Yes
The suggested solution is reasonable (easy) for the teacher to implement No
The suggested solution is likely to solve the problem/issue No
The suggested solution is original No
Comments: Mr. Kitchens should cover the basics in grammar and writing with the class as a whole, first, since most of the students are having issues with this. Setting specific goals without a good foundation first won't help anyone.
