Case: New Teacher to not so new kids
This year I was the new kid of the class. My students had been together since kindergarden. What are a few tips for new teachers, when the kids aren't so new?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
It is important to start out stern, then to loosen up if permitted. The students need to know who's boss, in the first place. The new teacher should implement and enforce classroom rules and procedures, and to use consequences when the rules are broken.

Comments: I agree. It is important to show students that you care, but you also want to make sure they don't take advantage of the fact that you are new and they are not.

Comments: While I do believe it is important to establish respect and authority roles within the classroom its important to also make the students feel comfortable with you not simply be afraid of you.
