  Case: Won't Do Anything!
I am dealing with a situation in my class where one of my students just sits at his desk all day and does absolutely nothing. It does not matter what I say or do. He just sits there and will not even pick up his pencil. What makes this situation worse is that I know he can do it and I know he is capable of great things! When I tested him at the beginning of the year he scored above average. What are some things I can do to help this situation? I have motivated and been as positive about this as I can. I have even made the parents aware and they keep saying her is like that at home as well.
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
You should implement a reward system for the student to motivate him. If the student has an incentive for the work they have to complete, then maybe they will actually do it. For example, the students can receive a sticker when a worksheet is completed. Find out what the student likes, and try to motivate him.

Comments: I agree that a reward system might help motivate the student. By having something to work for, students will be motivated to work better.

Comments: If I were in this situation, I would do this because students are motivated if their is an incentive for completed work.
