  Case: Taking Money
Ms. White is a brand new teacher who is teaching first grade this year. At her Open House, a parent gave her a $100 bill and he said it can be used for anything she needs. Is it wrong for her to accept the money? Should she report it to administration or ask their opinion?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
Yes, it is wrong for Ms. White to accept the money. It is a violation of the code of ethics. I think the situation should be handled before it reaches administration. Many parents are not aware of the code of ethics, and it might be beneficial to enlighten this parent about the code that we, as teachers, are obligated to.

Comments: I agree. I think that the teacher should inform them of the teaching code of ethics and suggest if they want to contribute money, they should do it through administration.

Comments: I agree with this statement because the teacher should not have taken the money and remind them about the code of ethics. I would give them an option to support our schools or donate items for other students that might not be able to afford school items.

Comments: Most times, the parent won't think they are doing anything wrong. Thus, explain to the parent that, although you greatly appreciate the gesture, you are unable to accept it. I would let someone else know, just so they are aware.
