Case: Too nervous to work
I have a student who get very nervous while working on his assignments. He starts day dreaming and when told to concentrate and do his work he fumbles with his pencil and second guesses himself often. I feel like he is afraid to be wrong and gets nervous because of it. How can I help him relax and trust himself?

I would consistently remind the student that it is okay to get questions wrong, because this is how we learn. When a question in answered incorrectly, take that anxiety and turn it into motivation to remember the correct answer and be able to get the question correct in the future. |

| Comments: I think it's important as well that students understand and feel comfortable with getting answers wrong so that they can learn. Many students get nervous and get answers wrong but they can be assured they are in a safe environment where they won't get made fun of for getting an answer wrong. |
