Home | How It Works | Stats Login | Register         Case: Student needing constant attention I have a student who continues to act as the class clown. He needs constant attention everyday. I have tried to approach it as "noticing" him and laughing but then asking him to control it. I have approached it in the punishment area. However, nothing is working. He did inform me of things happening at home and told me how his mom doesn't get home until midnight every night. I think this is where a lot of it comes from. He is a very bright students and sweet person. What else could I do to have him control this? Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) While you have approached the problem in the form of punishments, I would consider rewarding him for his good behavior and "extinguishing" the negative behavior when he seeks constant attention. That is to essentially not respond to the behavior. This is tricky, however, as you'll need the rest of the class to cooperate.
