Case: Homework Help
A girl in the class I am observing never does her homework. When asked about this, she says it's because no one is there to help her in the home. What can be done about this from an intern's perspective?

I would ask to see if she can stay after class so that you or the teacher can help her. I come from a background of my parents not being educated enough to help me. That could be the case, but be there to help her because that is your job. |

| Comments: If I were in this situation, I would do exactly this. I feel that by offering time after school for the student to complete her work with the teacher, one can help build her confidence and make her feel more comfortable while completing her homework. This is because there is an adult figure in the room who is there for support. It may not be mom or dad, but by having an adult figure in the classroom it may make her feel more at home. |
