  Case: Students talk too much
There is this girl who talks entirely too much throughout the day. I tell her to be quiet, but when she isn't quiet, all she does is talk. I don't know how to approach it, especially because it's annoying. Help!
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
It would be a good idea to find out what this student may view as an incentive. Perhaps a special job in the classroom such as the student that passes out papers or the line leader could be offered as a reward if she does a better job of keeping quiet. It would be a good idea to have a chart or checklist that the student and teacher could use before and after every lesson throughout the day to keep track of her progress. Finding moments when she is being quiet and approaching her privately to tell her that you are proud of her is also very effective but you want to make sure that the other students do not hear you. If you praise her in fron tof the whole class it can cause backsliding. Good luck!

Comments: I feel that having a talk with the student to learn more about what the student could find as a reward and to come up with a plan explaining what behaviors are expected that only the two of you know about so the other class doesn't pick up on it and make fun of the student. Also giving positive feedback and praise is a great way to reinforce and show the student that the behavior they are portraying is important and how good their behavior is.

Comments: If I were in this situation, I would do exactly this. I would do this because I believe that incentives can be a great way to get students excited about behaving properly (whether it be being quiet or simply completing their work) in the class and can help them develop proper manners while in and out of the classroom as well.

Comments: I like the idea of having roles for her to do as an incentive, but think that this should be in place for all the students. She should not get rewarded for doing what she should, while the others that always follow the rules get forgotten.
