Despite that fact, the student refuses to do any work and refuses to speak English to her or his classmates. She knows that he can do better, but he seems to be using his ESL status as a crutch. How should she motivate this student to speak English and do his language arts work? Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) It takes too much time, doesn't give context, and more deeply separates the two languages and cultures. It might be harder and more confusing for all to get parents involved at this point.
