Case: Not showing up for school I have these two girls that are siblings who do not come to school often. Their mother and father keep saying they have car issues. They come 3 days out of the 5 that they are suppose too. They are behind in their reading and math levels. I also notice that the two girls do not have good hygiene. I want to help, but I don't know how too. What do you think? Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) First things first, alert the counselor at your school of the situation. It is important that this situation is looked into because there could be some bigger problems going on that endanger the children's welfare. Secondly see if you can contact the parents with information about finding a different way to get the kids to school when they are having car trouble. They could always ride a bus or possibly car pool. Do not dig for information that the parents do not want to indulge because you don't want to embarrass them. As for the students falling behind in their studies, find out if there is any way the students could stay after school on the days they are there to go over what they have missed. this could help them catch up a little bit to their peers. |
