  Case: Chewing Gum
Chewing gum at school is not allowed. Just recently it has started to become a major problem in the gym because the teachers are finding new gum stuck to the gym floor everyday. Each period we have between 100-150 students coming into the gym, and cannot possibly check every one to see if they have gum. What are some ways that we could better prevent students from chewing gum?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
Chewing gum is a huge problem at my school as well. Whenever I see a student chewing gum I politely ask them to spit it out. That is considered their "warning". If I see them chewing gum again I give the child silent lunch and usually notify the parent. I am not sure what grade you teach but this usually works will with my middle school kids.

Comments: We do ask them to spit their gum in the trashcan but the issue of writing them up, is that we would spend the entire class period addressing this. It is a very difficult problem to deal with! Thanks for the suggestion!!

Comments: This is a good idea. Reminding students of the school gum policy is a good first step and initial warning. If the warning does not deter students, consequences and discipline will have to occur to reinforce school gum policies.

Comments: I would do this if I was in this situation as well.
