  Case: Teacher's pet
there was one student in my class that was a serious teacher's pet. He was always so nice and respectful of me and he always did what I asked him to on the first time. He also would call out suggested punishments when I was disciplining another student. Many of the other students pick up on this behavior and make fun of him for it. What can I do in this situation?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
This is a touchy point. Especially if you have students who also happen to be family friends, as I do. I have to try very hard not to treat them differently. I basically keep a list in my head when I ask students to run errands or perform special tasks, such as make copies, or clean my whiteboards. I try to ask different students every day so that noone feels left out. I also play games to allow every student the chance to win points for free days or "nap time". So no one can ever say I have preferred certain students over others.

Comments: Giving every student the chance to do things lets everyone feel included. You can even have a jobs list and rotate the students every week or 2 so that everyone can be involved. For students who aren't listed or asked to do things one day can be asked to do other things the next day so that even though they don't expect to have a job soon they can still be the student who has a chance to win the games for bonuses.

Comments: I agree, this way you are giving all of the students attention. The teacher's pet also won't be receiving all of the attention that they hope their actions will produce.

Comments: These are good ideas as well as reminding the teachers pet that you are the teacher and not them and they need to keep comments to themselves as you are in charge. Also making sure all students are treated the same even if this student wants to do everything there are other roles and students as well.
