Case: I couldn't help it!
I'm a teacher that loves to get personable with her students. I show them that I care about them outside of my classroom. One night, I was supporting my students at a basketball game and one of my students needed a ride home from the game. She attempted to call her grandparents, parents, but no one answered. It was very dark outside. I decided to give her a ride. Is this against the code of ethics?

I would have done the same thing. I like it would have been an issue if you would have left her there. Now, if it would have been a male student, I'm not sure if I would have taken the student home. I would not feel comfortable. As a way to cover yourself, I would let your administration know in an email. Did you speak to the parent when you dropped off the student? |

Comments: I believe that this solution does not solve the problem and would not make sense to leave a male student behind. I think that if a child needs help and there is always a solution that you, as a teacher, can come up with with the help from an administrator. |
