Case: Writing for college and career
Mr. Kitchens, a high school English teacher, has a dilemma with his second period students showing little motivation in developing and improving their writing ideas and organization skills. This eleventh grade group has poor grammar and conventional skills. Additionally, in a technology driven world and weak skills, the insufficient engagement in the writing process results in half of the class failing the summative essay exams which on is required for high school graduation.
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
One way that I like is to make students "free write" about any topic they want. They set aside a day and for half the class students write and then turn in these journals at random times to check for improvement.
