Case: I couldn't help it!
I'm a teacher that loves to get personable with her students. I show them that I care about them outside of my classroom. One night, I was supporting my students at a basketball game and one of my students needed a ride home from the game. She attempted to call her grandparents, parents, but no one answered. It was very dark outside. I decided to give her a ride. Is this against the code of ethics?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I feel you did the right thing. Imagine if you had left the child there by themselves the trouble you could have possibly been in. I think it's our own judgement to do such as this. You know the student and the family no one else does. I as a parent would have appreciated it if my son was in this type of situation. |

Comments: I like the solution because it puts everyone in the parents shoes, however I think that you do need to make sure you know the parents enough let you know that they would not be against this action. |

Comments: Ethically I think the teacher would be wrong. But morally she did the right thing. I think I wouldve called someone from administration at the school to let them know the situation just as another way of documentation/phone record that I called to let someone know about giving the student a ride home. |
