  Case: Offensive Comments
If you were teaching a social studies lesson about Native Americans. What would you do if one of your students makes a comment like, "The Indians helped the white settlers?. How would you handle this situation?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I would use this opportunity to talk about the difference between Native Americans and Indians since there is a difference--Native Americans are the indigenous people of the United States and Indians are people who identify their country of origin as India. I would also make sure to talk to students about stereotyping and misrepresentation. Just like you may not want to be referred to a certain way, they might feel the same way.

Comments: This solution is useful, however, I think it may confuse the children because of the different kinds of Indians, and you have to be careful how you approach that subject as well.
