Completed Work
Heather is not bringing her completed work him for mom and dad to see. Heather's mother has called an IEP meeting to discuss this issue. How can we manage this problem with Heather? |

There are several different ways to approach this problem. First, with the help from the parents it should be determined whether her organizational skills are effective. Heather may be misplacing things. Next, a reward system could be implemented. For example, each time Heather returns her work she can receive a sticker. Once she reaches 20 stickers she can trade her stickers in for an item in the class shop or treasure box. Moreover, you can instruct the student to return the work signed the next day. Depending on the students personality it may take time to determine which strategy will work best for her. |

The teacher could check to see that her work is indeed completed, and if it is in her take home folder or planner so that her parents can see it. The teacher may need to help her organize a folder with tabs and such to ensure there is a space for completed work. |

I think a take home folder would be the best, that way she cannot misplace the work if that is the problem. |

It's important to first know where this behavior is coming from. Does she not like the work she has done? Or is she unorganized? A quick look inside her backpack could answer that quickly. Also, having a folder/binder for everything in your class can be helpful, she will just need to learn how to use it effectively. You may need to focus on her for a few days during the end of class, ensuring that she is placing the work in her folder instead of simply in her backpack. Discuss this with her parents so they know where to look. |

It could help if you used a unique system approved by the parents such as a stamp on her hand to remind the parents that she should have completed work to show. This would be a unique and useful solution. |

Heather may need more organization skills and an understanding to why it is essential for her to bring her work home. If there seems to be an understanding that heather can not manage this task herself, technology is a great option. Scan or take pictures of her work and send them directly to the parents. |
