Sometimes all someone needs is a friendly reminder of the rules to prevent the inappropriate behavior from happening again. They may not realize that what they are saying is offensive until someone tells them. If they are uncooperative and continue to speak this way, you should bring this to the attention of administration. Their guidance will hopefully help, and they have the power to move you if needed. I do not think you should approach the teachers. It is better to face the issue head-on than to speak to administration first, as this can cause tension with you and the teachers. If it personally offended you or could to anyone else, I think that is the appropriate thing to do. If you hear it again, then you should go to administration and explain to them what you heard. Whether students are around or not, a school is not the place for inappropriate conversation. I would let them know that it offended you to hear them speaking about the things that they were. I would kindly ask them to be mindful that there are others around and that they should have these types of conversations in private. This would be the best way to stand up for yourself and your beliefs, and the other teachers should respect you for being bold. If conversations like this continue then you need to let them know more serious consequences will be taking place. They need to know that others are overhearing their conversations and are made uncomfortable by it. The two teachers should not be having these conversations at school whether students are present or not. They should not have this conversation especially when anyone can hear them. That being said, you have to let things go. There will be bigger issues you will face as a teacher. Don't waste time on the small stuff. If it keeps happening I would then call the students parents.
