Innapropriate conversations
I am currently interning in an elementary school and during a specials break I overheard two kindergarten teachers talking about inappropriate things. there were no students around to overhear the conversation but I did and was offended. What is the appropriate course of action?

A first step you can take is to present these issues with the teachers who are speaking inappropriately. Sometimes all someone needs is a friendly reminder of the rules to prevent the inappropriate behavior from happening again. They may not realize that what they are saying is offensive until someone tells them. If they are uncooperative and continue to speak this way, you should bring this to the attention of administration.

I agree that you should talk to the teachers.

I would speak to your Supervisor about this situation. Their guidance will hopefully help, and they have the power to move you if needed. I do not think you should approach the teachers.

I would go to the teachers first, then administration. Admin is too busy for petty teacher troubles.

I believe, in this situation, it would be best to speak with the two teachers about the offensive comments. It is better to face the issue head-on than to speak to administration first, as this can cause tension with you and the teachers.

I would tell someone who has higher power than the teachers. If it personally offended you or could to anyone else, I think that is the appropriate thing to do.

I would approach the teachers and explain that their conversation is inappropriate and offensive. If you hear it again, then you should go to administration and explain to them what you heard. Whether students are around or not, a school is not the place for inappropriate conversation.

I would bring it up to the teachers that you overheard them and remind them that although there were no students around, some conversations at school are inappropriate and itis best to have those in private.

Although awkward, because you are only an intern, I would speak personally with these two teachers. I would let them know that it offended you to hear them speaking about the things that they were. I would kindly ask them to be mindful that there are others around and that they should have these types of conversations in private. This would be the best way to stand up for yourself and your beliefs, and the other teachers should respect you for being bold.

As always, I would bring this to the attention of the two teachers and let them know that you overheard their conversation and that you were offended. If it continues or you do not reach a comfortable solution, you then can take this to your supervisor.

You should pull these students aside and let them know you are aware of the conversation that was taking place during their break, also let them know that conversation like that is not allowed what so ever on the schools campus. If conversations like this continue then you need to let them know more serious consequences will be taking place.

I would bring this to their attention. They need to know that others are overhearing their conversations and are made uncomfortable by it. The two teachers should not be having these conversations at school whether students are present or not. They should not have this conversation especially when anyone can hear them.

Perhaps address them and bring it up to them that they shouldn't be discussing such things in class. Ultimately it is up to them to conduct themselves accordingly.

Teachers shouldn't be talking that way at school; you never know who could walk around the corner. That being said, you have to let things go. There will be bigger issues you will face as a teacher. Don't waste time on the small stuff.

You need to tell them to stop having these talks. If it continues, further action may need to be taken.

Pulling these two students aside to confront them about their conversation they were having and discussing with them if they thought it was an appropriate topic to discuss at school After discuss with students by referencing school policy and classroom policy of having appropriate conversations at school.

I would pull each student a side and talk to them about what they were talking about and tell them why it is not right to talk about that. If it keeps happening I would then call the students parents.
